All Natural Cures For Toenail Fungus

Different people will come up with lists of natural remedies for toenail fungus based on their anecdotal experience. It is not possible to completely trust anecdotal evidence. The research into these cures is not yet complete and that leaves a lot of room for speculation and innuendo. It also leaves room for charlatans to exploit vulnerable patients who are looking for real solutions to fungal problems. This article attempts to summarize some of the popular remedies that have been recommended by patients and alternative health practitioners.

A List Of 8 Natural Remedies For Toenail Fungus

1. Tea Tree Oil - The use of tea tree oil can be effective if used persistently and consistently. The patient needs to dip a cotton ball within the oil and then rub it onto the toe for two times a day. It is a good idea to spread out the treatment from morning to evening so that the fungi have no chance to recover.

2. Listerine - A Listerine solution would provide an ideal healing bath for the affected toenails. Although this solution is for oral health, there is no reason why resourceful patients cannot use it to combat fungal pathogens.

3. Cider - Cider solutions are also popular. A bottle of cheap apple cider can be the route towards beautiful nails. The patient will need to soak their feet in the solution for about twenty minutes per day. The feet need to be dried after the treatment so that the fungal infection is not given the chance to re-grow in the most conditions.

4. Lavender and Tea Tree Oil - Lavender and tea tree oil mixtures are a variation that is favored by many elderly patients. This solution must be applied to the feet three times a day. Olive oil is often added to the mixture in order to increase the potency of these natural remedies for toenail fungus.

5. Alcohol - Alcohol is said to create conditions that are not conducive for the rapid growth of fungus. Therefore the feet of a patient should be soaked in a strong alcohol solution twice a day in order to provide relief. Of course the amounts of money needed might make this an impractical solution.

6. Hydrogen Peroxide - Hydrogen Peroxide solutions can be mixed with water in order to provide a version of natural remedies for toenail fungus. The Hydrogen Peroxide is a powerful element and therefore the solution has to have 97% water and 3% of the concentrate in order to be safe.

7. Diet - A diet of Pro-biotic food such as Kefir and Yogurt can help to get rid of fungus within the body. These foods are readily available in health stores. Nevertheless the patient has to be prepared to pay a significant amount of money given the pricing structure for organic products.

8. Turmeric - A paste of turmeric powder and water can be applied to the nail in order to keep it free from fungus. Raw onion slices can be used as a topical treatment as well. However patients need to be wary of formulaic solutions that do not critically examine the efficacy of the treatment proposals. The natural remedies for toenail fungus have to be tested for success.

Frequently Asked Questions

  1. QUESTION:
How do you cure toenail fungus?
My 5 year old has it on all of her toes and the prescription medication has bad side affects that could cause liver damage and stunt her growth I'm told. Is there a natural cure for toenail fungus?

    • ANSWER:
Personally, I've tried a lot of different stuff over the years. I had dealt with the combo nail fungus and athletes foot for almost 20 years. One "free" thing that did help a lot was vinegar.

It didn't help much with the nail fungus but it completely stopped the athlete's foot that I was also suffering from.

For the fungus I tried a lot of different things, including over the counter treatments, vinegar, bleach, tea tree oil, vicks and lavender oil. Some of them did make a little difference but none of them completely killed the fungus.

I also tried lamisil which worked for a while then after a couple of months I had a relapse of the nail fungus. The scary thing with the lamisil is the possible health issues you can face as a result of using it, the doctor had me take a test to make sure my liver wasn't prone to problems before he'd give me the lamisil... gulp!

In the end what finally fixed my loong term problem with nail fungus was Zeta Clear. I think what also helped is that I made it a part of my daily ritual to use it.

Another thing that I did that probably helped was throw out my old shoes. I have heard that the fungus can live in your shoes and return after treatment. So to avoid a relapse I made sure to get new shoes and throw out the old ones.

      Best of Luck!

  2. QUESTION:
Is there a natural cure for toenail fungus?
Does anyone know of any natural cure for toenail fungus?

    • ANSWER:
Hydrogen Peroxide... not exactly sure if that's what yo'd consider natural but my dad uses it on his.

  3. QUESTION:
Are there natural cures for toenail fungus?
My doctor said I have toenail fungus, and he said that products sold on the market could interact with a medication I take and affect my liver.I would like an alternative.Thank you.

    • ANSWER:
It depends on how chronic a case you have. There are over the counter lacquers for toenail fungus but as per the box instructions, these are only really suitable where a couple of nails are affected. With anything more chronic...they might not work. Also you have to persist and use for several months before you might see any results....as the nails grow out. And you have to be careful not to contaminate any healthy nails with the applicator stick and nail file.

Really you need a systemic whole body approach. Looks like your doctor has ruled out the anti-fungal tablet treatment....that in itself, even without being on any other medication usually necessitates liver function monitoring.

You could try olive leaf extract capsules...but as with any treatment you would need to wait several months before you might notice any significant results....waiting for healthy nail to appear and become obvious. More importantly, since you are on medication already, you would need to check with your doctor regarding taking olive leaf extract to be sure you could take it alongside any prescribed medications you take because some herbs have drug interactions. Read this regarding some known drug interactions with olive leaf extract and the 'herxheimer reaction' which is a reaction one might display from the death of microbes [ http://olivus.com/cautions_olive_leaf.htm ** ]. Caprylic acid [from coconut oil] tablets is another supplement worth trying, and could be taken alongside olive leaf extract. But always talk to your doctor or pharmacist first before taking supplements of any kind if on any prescribed medications.

** Not promoting this brand...link posted to a short article for reference purposes only...not affiliated in any way with this company or any other connected with it.

For long-standing chronic toe nail fungus, a more drastic solution might be to have the toenails surgically removed under local anaesthetic. In the UK, you might be able to go on an NHS waiting list for that...but I think your doctor would only agree to that if it was very chronic. Plus if one was diabetic that might not be a viable solution...you would need to talk to your GP or a chiropodist. There is alternatively laser treatment for toenail fungus. That could prove to be a very expensive option and am not sure if that is available at all on the NHS in the UK. Outside of the UK you would have to enquire with your insurance company if you have private health insurance.

There might be some anecdotal evidence circulating the Internet for non-pharmaceutical topical treatments having some benefit, perhaps if the condition is not too far advanced. These treatments might include tea tree oil, myrrh oil, Vick's vapour rub, or some other known anti-fungal oils/essential oils...garlic oil might be another for instance. You could certainly try one of those or a combination. But you would have to pre-treat your nail as you would if you were applying the lacquer...filing down any thick growth for instance. One major problem might be getting any treatment to stay in place. Also, to be really effective it needs to penetrate down to the nail root. You should be careful if you have diabetes....it might be better to seek professional help.

As a preventative in future after successful treatment, or to help with prevention of the infection spreading to healthy toenails: always dry your feet well after showering...air dry for a while...and wear open toe sandals as much as possible in dry sunny weather.

Toenail fungus could be a signal one's immune system is functioning below par. Diabetics and some with other health conditions, immuno-compromised particularly, might be more prone to fungal infections. If you have any underlying health conditions or concerns...discuss a suitable plan of action with your GP or other healthcare provider.

Good luck...hope you find a solution and resolution.

  4. QUESTION:
What are good home remedies for toenail fungus?
Looking for natural treatments to use on toenail fungus.

    • ANSWER:
I cam across this, haven't (fortunately) had to use it but it is my understanding that even if you use a prescription product, it takes a while.

You will need a few things:
Vicks Vapor Rub, Rubbing alcohol, Band Aids, Q-tips, Nail File, Liquid Bleach and Tea Tree Oil-(if you can afford it)

1.Trim and file your infected nails as best as possible. Making them shorter and thinner is half the battle.

2.Wash toes with anti-bacterial soap in your morning shower.

3.Use a fresh towel or hair dryer on toes. (always use a clean towel)

4.With a Q-Tip, scrub in Rubbing Alcohol and let dry.(only takes a sec to dry)

5.With a Q-Tip, rub a generous amount of Vicks Vapor Rub on and around infected toenails and cover with a Band Aid.

This will keep moisture from getting on and under the nail while at the same time killing the fungus.

When you get home from work take off your shoes and socks and wash your feet in the same way. If you have Tea Tree Oil, apply it with a Q-Tip and walk bare foot as long as possible letting it dry. If you do NOT have Tea Tree Oil, mix Bleach and Water 50/50, apply it with a Q-Tip to the NAIL ONLY. Let it Dry. I do the same to my finger.

Before bed, repeat steps 1-5 and wear clean socks to bed.

After a few mornings you will have this down to about 5-10 minutes.

I have been doing this for just a few weeks now and see about half the fungus gone. IT IS NOT AN OVERNIGHT CURE. It is however a REAL CURE. I will be seeing you all at the beach this coming summer :)

What are some ways that you can cure a fungus in your toe, the ones that rowen the nail?
I need a cure one that can help in like a month or a couple of weeks.

    • ANSWER:
Toenail fungus also known as onychomycosis is caused by a group of fungus called dermatophytes. These fungus are harmful because as they grow they feed on the keratin that makes up the surface of the toe nail. The two fingers that are more likely to be affected are the big toe finger and the little toe finger. Toe nail fungus causes disfiguration and discoloration of the nails. It is a contagious disease and some times it may be hereditary.

Toe nail fungus home remedies and natural cures:

Toe nail fungus remedy using tea tree oil:

Tea tree oil is a potent natural antiseptic and fungicide that will help fight your fungus. Apply undiluted tea tree oil with olive oil to the affected toe nail. Alternatively you can put few drops of tea tree oil on toenails and rub it thoroughly every day.

      Using Listerine mouthwash:

Soak your toes in Listerine mouthwash. The powerful antiseptic leaves your toe nails looking healthy.
Curing toe nail fungus using warm water and natural apple cider vinegar

Soak your toenails for 15 - 20 minutes in basin full of warm water and natural apple cider vinegar mixed in equal proportion. When done, dry your toenails thoroughly. Use a hair dryer on warm setting to absorb all the moisture in and around the toes

Tea tree oil and Lavender oil:

Put equal amount of tea tree oil and lavender oil on a cotton ball or swab. Dab it under the top edge of the toe nail and surrounding area 2 or 3 times a day. Tea tree oil is natural antibiotic and lavender will help fight the infection and prevent skin irritation

Diet plays a very vital role in curing any ailment. People suffering from toe nail fungus should include more probiotics – good bacteria, in their diet. This will help your body to get rid of the fungus. Yogurt and kefir are good sources of probiotics. Reduce intake of refined carbs like sugar, dairy products and vinegar. Olive leaf extract is an excellent internal anti-fungal agent.

      Hope this helps!

  11. QUESTION:
How does one treat fungal infections of the nails?
My friend has a fungal infection on one of his toenails, and he asked me how (if) they can be treated. Unfortunately I do not know (I never had these myself). Typical symptoms include but are not limited to discoloration and thickening of those nails which are infected. Is it possible to get the nails back to normal? If so, then how?

    • ANSWER:
Oral prescription medications include Lamisil (terbinafine), Sporanox (itraconazole), and Diflucan (fluconazole). Lamisil appears to be the most effective treatment for toenail fungus in this group. While these treatment regimens have the advantage of being relatively easy, they do have rare severe side effects, and they are quite expensive if you have to pay for them out of pocket. People taking these fungus toenail treatments should be monitored for toxicity due to the drugs. There is one topical prescription drug available: Penlac (ciclopirox) nail lacquer is painted directly onto the affected nails, but can only be used when the infection is not advanced.

OTC antifungal ointments, creams and lotions may work quite well for fungal skin infections, but they are not recommended for nails simply because they are not an effective treatment for toenail fungus. They are applied to the nail topically, and they don't penetrate the thick nail to kill the fungus, which is protected in the nail bed below the nail. If you want to try one of these medications, it might be a good idea to combine it with one of the other types of remedy to increase the probability of success.

There are many natural healing remedies available today to consumers; some of them incorporate an oral product. Some of these products may be effective treatment for toenail fungus. Perhaps the most promising ingredient in natural remedies is the essential oil, Tea tree oil, which is produced in Australia. Studies of this extract are encouraging, and a number of natural remedies contain it, blended with other herbal ingredients. Tea tree oil is even available in pure form, however there is some risk of skin sensitivity so this may not be best way to use it. Other natural remedies may be worthwhile fungus toenail treatments, but scientific evidence for or against them is generally lacking, simply because the research has not been done.

Finally, there are a lot of traditional, or simply inventive, home fungus toenail treatments. They include soaking the feet in various solutions, or applying substances that are thought to be antifungal. The substances employed include chlorine bleach, vinegar, hydrogen peroxide, dark beer combined with a lactobacillus, Vicks VapoRub, Listerine mouthwash, DMSO (dimethyl sulfoxide), and others. Some people swear by a drink of apple cider vinegar, twice daily, to cure and prevent fungal toenail infections. Again, the primary focus for an effective treatment for toenail fungus rests with getting the treatment beyond the nail to the fungus. Good luck!

What causes mold on toes and under toenails?
My roommate has mold under his toenails. I told him he should see a doctor. Is this contagious, like athlete's foot? How does mold even get started? How serious is this, other than looking hidious and having a sour odor? Is it preventable? Is there a natural remedy, or is a prescription the only way to cure it?

    • ANSWER:
It's usually from moisture. I use a solution from Sally Hansen that I bought at the drugstore and it does a great job. Tell him to be really consistent about applying it every day and keep his feet as dry as possible with powder and cotton socks and he will start to see a change, then after a month or 2 he will be free of fungus. I am on my feet most of the day and they sweat, so I use Gold Bond powder to keep them dry. Works for me, hope it will for him too.

  16. QUESTION:
does vinegar work for curing toenail fungus?
well does it? and i know you are not supposed to paint your toes, and always wear open-toe shoes, but i cant go to school like that! im not crazy!

    • ANSWER:
Apple cider vinegar most certainly can work, but the best kind to use is one from the health food store that has the "mother" in it (which is like scum, which is the starter) as this vinegar has natural enzymes in it that are useful to health. The Heinz brand and other store brands have been pastuerized and do not have all of their healing properties. The enzymes in Heinz and other pastuerized brands have been killed.

Bragg's Pure Apple Cider Vinegar is about the best there is on the market. A quart will cost you about - dollars, depending on store, but it is the best.

You should most likely soak your toe in vinegar twice a day, for at least 1/2 hour a day, for best results. And yes, the Ti Tree oil will also help, if you apply it topically inbetween soaks. It is best used with DMSO (found on internet) as this will help your body absorb the Ti Tree oil immediately.

  17. QUESTION:
Most Effective Product To Treat Toe Nail Fungus?
My husband has suffered from a re-occuring toe nail fungus condition for many years. He's tried lamisil and a couple of other similar products we saw in stores, but nothing seems to work. His toenails are getting more yellow in color and uglier. Any suggestions on a more effective toenail fungus treatment product? Please advise. Thanks for your help.

    • ANSWER:
Hi. I've worked in the construction field for several years and have to wear steel-toed boots which aren't all that comfortable.

I had developed a similar toe nail fungus condition like your husband....so I understand your concern.

However, I was able to cure my condition and had tremendous success using an athlete's foot treatment product that also effectively treats toe nail fungus that I found online at http://tinyurl.com/eliminatetoenailfungus.

This website provides a great all natural product to help you get rid of toe nail fungus.

However, depending on the severity of your husbands' condition, it might take more than a week before he notices any remarkable improvements ....but the stuff definitely worked for me, and I was happy with it and I'm sure you will be too.

For years I've just polished my toes with a really dark polish, but I hate how one of my toenails is shades darker then my other toes.Is there a cure for it?

    • ANSWER:
It depends on what is causing the discoloration. You could possibly have a toenail fungus, but if the discoloration is the only symptom, it may be just the color that is natural for you and if so there isn't anything you can do about it. Ask your doctor about it the next time you are there.

what is the most effective way to get rid of toenail fungus?
A few months ago i stubbed my toe and the whole thing bruised and then about a week later fell off. I had no toe nail what so ever but it starting growing back but very slowly so I got a pedicure and the lady suggested getting a fake toe nail i did and now it came off and i think i have fungus growing. someone please help!!!!!

    • ANSWER:
you definitely need to get rid of fungus!

Getting rid of finger nail fungus is easier in some ways, and more difficult in others. Many people will act on a finger nail infection long before they will start asking how to get rid of toe nail fungus, simply because toes can be kept out of sight, but ugly fingernails are a daily embarrassment. People start getting rid of finger nail fungus before the infection is too far advanced. However, it's much harder to get a topical treatment to stay on a fingernail when you’re using your hands all the time, and it's much harder to sit for 15 to 30 minutes every day with your hands soaking in a solution.

Pick any method for getting rid of finger nail fungus, or any advice on how to get rid of toe nail fungus. If you do any reading, you will quickly discover that all methods are fickle. VapoRub works for some and not for others. Stories of success with a vinegar soak abound; so do stories of failure. Some lucky people report success in weeks; some stress that you may have to keep at it for a year or more. Even the prescription medications have a relatively poor success rate. The bottom line is that curing nail fungus infection is difficult.

for me and my husband worked very well ZetaClear! I think it is the fastest way to get rid of fungus! Nail fungus is tough to treat. The extracts in Zetaclear provide the most powerful therapeutic effect for healthy looking nails.

And then i cant use it for another year i need something that can get rid of it. I cant go swimming with my friends and i cant go to the beach when people ask me to.. Any advice?

    • ANSWER:

Obviously, you can't spray herbicide on your feet or hands! The next best thing is Zetaclear. It's made from all-natural homeopathic ingredients. This product works time after time and results are guaranteed. This extra strength solution is designed to be as aggressive and strong as possible, without causing irritation.

  29. QUESTION:
What is the best way to get rid of toe nail fungus?

    • ANSWER:
For some people it can be difficult finding a natural cure to fight the embarrassment, disfigurement and the physical pain of toenail fungus. There are some (unnatural) internal medications available as prescriptions such as

      * itraconazole (Sporonox),
      * fluconazole (Diflucan),
      * griseofulvin (Fulvicin), and
      * terfinabine (Lamisil)

These medications have been shown to sometimes have side effects such as upset stomach, headaches, and liver damage. Mixing these oral medications with some other drugs can be extremely dangerous. They are very expensive as well, some of them can cost over 0 for just the treatment medications. There is a powerful reason why they are available by prescription only.

      There are alternative, natural products.

It is important to realize that any toenail fungal cure is dependent on continual daily use until the infected tissue is eradicated, and then still more time until complete new toenails are grown. When it appears that the fungus has been beaten, you must continue using your chosen type of cure until new nails are in place.
These healthy and wise living tips/methods mentioned above will help eradicate the most persistent fungi on your toenails or fingernails.

  32. QUESTION:
How do I get rid of my Athlete's Foot?
Or at least soothe the pain. I have no anti-fungal creams right now and it's really bothering me =|

    • ANSWER:
Athlete's foot can be a real pain! However, if you follow these steps using natural remedies there's a good chance you can cure it without any medications.

One of the best ways to avoid athlete's foot in the first place is to make sure your feet are always completely dry before putting on socks and shoes. The athlete's foot fungus thrives in warm damp places.

Wear clean socks with your shoes. If you don't wear socks - or if your socks aren't clean - your feet will be more likely to sweat. That will make them prime targets for the fungus.

If you already have athlete's foot, try an Epsom Salt soak. Each soak should be 10-15 minutes and you should soak 2-3 times a day. Make sure you dry your feet completely once you're done soaking.

After you soak your feet in the Epsom Salts, take a cotton ball and dry your feet with rubbing alcohol. It will burn like crazy but it's a good antiseptic.

Sprinkle some cornstarch on your feet to help keep your feet dry. Don't use talc or baking soda.

If your feet sweat a lot, you can always try a tea soak. Put a couple of tea bags into some hot water just long enough to turn the water brown. Once the water cools off you can do your foot soak for about 5-10 minutes. The tannin in the tea will help pull the excess moisture from your feet.

A soak of one part Vinegar to 10 parts water will work as well. Either way, be sure to dry your feet completely afterwards.

If your athlete's foot lasts longer than 5-7 days, or if it starts to affect a toenail, skip the natural cure and see a doctor.

  33. QUESTION:
How do you get rid of fungus on toenail?

  34. QUESTION:
What have you heard or know of?
What have you heard of know of that works for toe nail fungus?
If you have links or something to send about the product, that would be great.

    • ANSWER:
It seems that everyone has a piece of sage advice to offer about how to get rid of toe nail fungus. Some advice is very simple: apply Vicks VapoRub, Listerine, tea tree oil, or any one of a dozen other substances. Other remedies take more effort, like soaking the affected toenail(s) in a solution of dilute bleach, hydrogen peroxide, vinegar, Listerine, or some other chemical for a period of time each day.

Then there are the doctor recommended medications: topical ointments, nail lacquer, or oral drugs. These treatments are easy, and may have stronger scientific backing, but they are by far the most expensive.

The best advice follows a four step approach. First, see your doctor to get the diagnosis confirmed – other things can look like nail fungus that aren't. Talk to your doctor about treatment options.

Second, if you are reluctant to take any of the prescription medications, like many people, or if you simply want to learn about other ways of treating nail fungus, consult a natural healing professional or do your own research.

The third step is to choose a treatment. Any advice on how to get rid of toe nail fungus will probably work just as well for getting rid of finger nail fungus. Remember that any of the choices could have unpleasant and unintended side effects, and none are as foolproof as their proponents claim. Finally, stick with it. All types of nail fungus treatment take time to work.

  36. QUESTION:
what is a natural cure for toenail fungus?
I have tried everything from vics vapor rub to mouth wash.

    • ANSWER:
The best way to cure toenail fungus naturally is the following:

      Acidophilis Beer Soak:

1.Buy dark beer, white vinegar, sachets of acidophilis (or powdered 50 billion organisms)
2.Get a tub big enough for the treatment area (cat boxes are good - new ones please!)
3.Add 1 liter of room temperature dark beer, 1 liter of white vinegar, 50 billion acidophilis bacteria.
4.Soak feet in this solution for 20 minutes before turning in at night.
5.Get big container and pour all solution into it and put into refridgerator. This saves you money as you can resuse it.
6.Repeat using the same solution but add just enough hot water to make the solution warm.
7.Every 3rd time, add another 50 billion organisms to the solution.
8.Do this daily for 30 days or until you see normal healthy toenail growth appearing.

If you add urea paste to the nail during the day and soak your toes in the solution at night, the tinea unguinum will likely go away faster. You may also repeat the soaking in solution two times a day.

vicks vapor rub will not work as you have found out. The above remedy works really well. If you have a thick nail of about 1/4" and it's curling up, you may have to have it surgically removed. Nail fungus is very tough. You have to be diligent, but if you are and follow the above procedure, you will be successful.

      good luck

  38. QUESTION:
whats an easy way to cure toenail fungus with vinager?

    • ANSWER:
You may try but I don't think its going to work.

Treating toenail fungus is difficult because it is generally a recurring condition. There are a wide variety of over-the-counter anti-fungal creams available, but some can be overly harsh and rid the body of the ‘good’ bacteria needed for systemic balance thus increasing vulnerability to fungal infections in the future.

Your health practitioner or podiatrist may prescribe oral anti-fungal medication to stop the infection. While these medications may work in the short-term, they may also rid the body of intestinal flora and bacteria that are beneficial to the body, creating further problems.

Herbal and homeopathic remedies can be a gentle alternative to effectively treat nail fungal infections. Melaleuca laterifolia, also known as Tea Tree Oil has excellent anti-bacterial, anti-fungal and healing properties. The essential oil of sweet-smelling Lavendula officinalis (Lavender) may also be used as it contains active ingredients to soothe the nail, while promoting healthy nail growth.

There are also herbs which can be taken internally for their anti-fungal and immune boosting properties. These include Pau d’Arco and Calendula officinalis.

Together, these herbal remedies when used topically & in conjunction (like in a herbal formula) can:

      - Treat fungal infections of the nail
      - Treat flakiness and discoloration of the nail
      - Encourage healing and healthy nail growth
      - Prevent recurrence of nail infections
      - Treat pain, discomfort and redness around the nail
      - Support the body's natural ability to maintain balance of systemic Candida (yeast) levels
      - Maintain balance pH levels in the body
      - Support healthy balance of probiotic flora in the digestive tract
      - Maintain healthy digestion and metabolism

  40. QUESTION:
Is there anyone that shares my grief?
I have toe nail fungus ( I know ewww) and have had it since I was like 4 on my big toe. It's really ugly and embarassing cause I'm constantly making excuses about why I have it. I'm embarassed when I wear flip flops and sandals. I hate being the only girl who can't get a pedicure because even if it looks pretty the one ugly toe will ruin everything. I've tried everything to get rid of it and really don't want to go to my last resort ( getting the entire toe removed- ouch!) Any suggestions for cures that will actually work??

    • ANSWER:
Try the Key Relief Blemish Cream by Jeune Peau. It sounds funny to use a blemish cream but this product kills bacteria and fungus like crazy. It may take a few months but you will notice a difference right away if your toenail is red. Clean it as good as you can and then rub the cream over the toe and try to get some underneath the nail. It works great on acne too. It helped my husbands toenail and believe me it was gross.

The "pill" that some doctors can give you sometimes has more ill effects to your body than good. My husbands Dr. wouldn't give it to him because he said it would be very hard on his liver. The Key Relief Blemish cream is completely natural and uses very potent extracts to help the skin. You'll find it on the web site for jeunepeau.com . Hope this helps your problem.

lol i said I put medicine on them but it is actually supposed to be she* my bad

    • ANSWER:
That is only natural for the nails to fall off. Thou her situation is worse than before. You have to use remedies like tea tree oil or soaking the infected area in vinegar. Anti fungal cream would not do it alone. Don't worry after you cure it from toenail fungus. The nails will grow back, thou it usually takes a month or two for the nails to fully recover.

  42. QUESTION:
If you have a toenail, removed does it grow back?
I have a serious toenail fingus, that lamisil can't cure. the Doctor suggested I should have it removed with lazer , will it grow back, if not would the toe always be sensitve, ie, someone steps on my foot, also how funny would this look, when I wear sandles?

    • ANSWER:
Amazingly once removed, the toe nail will grow back. It takes some time, about 9 mos for the toe nail to cover the toe. Depending on weather the fungus affected the Matrix (the nail bed) it is possible that the nail will look normal again and you will be able to polish it for the sandals that you are planning on wearing next summer. Over the winter months, there will be medicine to put on and a sleeve to cover it with, and of course socks and shoes or boots to protect the sensitive toe. It will look natural. and you need to have patience until the toe nail is all grown out again. Certainly it will look much better than what you had with the seriously fungal toe nail. Not too much pain either. Best of luck

  44. QUESTION:
does apple cider vinegar help to cure fungus on the toenails?

    • ANSWER:
I heard that mouth wash works well if you soak it everday. I'm not sure if that was only with fungal foot infection. I advise you look into it further as this is something someone just told me, it's not a natural alternative but thought it may be worth mentioning. Good luck, they can be quite tricky to get rid of. But as someone has already mentioned medicated creams work well, requires patience and consistent use! :)

  45. QUESTION:
need natural cure (herbal or otherwise) for toenail fungus. My mom is on kidney dialysis and recently had a h
    heart attack.

While visiting her, I noticed she has discusting toenail fungus. She said the doctors told her, she is too ill to take the drug necessary to fix it.

I know it is hard to cure, but am a big believer in alternative health and I know the health of the feet affects the whole body.
She generaly won't do my suggestions but since this can be external or a soak, she is open to it (I think I can also convicnce her to use internal herbal or alternative cures if you know any).

Please do not give me allopathethic rememedies as I am only looking for natural/alternative/or home rememdies.

    Thanks..

it also looks like this fungus might have invaded her badly dented and scarred legs with ulcerated wounds that she has as a result of stepping on a landline in Italy when she was a young girl during world war 2...so it is really important she cure this.

    Please help..thanks..

    • ANSWER:
I have no personal experience with this but I do have a couple of testimonies stating that all natural Optiflora has cleared up their toe and foot fungus. Now, one lady did say that after thirty days it was gone and the other lady did not indicate a timeframe. I know that often times when something is going wrong inside our bodies it will manifest itself to the surface in some form.

This is a two-product system that uses new technology to protect beneficial microflora during the rigors of shipping, storage, and the acidic journey through your stomach. Other products claim live microflora at the time of manufacture. This product guarantees the delivery of live microflora (500 million) to the intestines. This is a patented process.

This two-product system includes Probiotic (Bifidus & Acidophilus...microflora) + Prebiotic (FOS...food source for microflora).

Hope this is helpful and best wishes.

    toenail funguns with vinegar?
first of all, does treating toenail fungus with vinegar actually work? i have heard about vicks, tea tree oil, listerine, but i wanna try vinegar. what type of vinegar? and if it does actually work, how long will it take? please help me, i have had it for 12 years and i am 14! i HATE it!!!!!
i mean toenal FUNGUS not funguns!

    • ANSWER:
Boy--you are talking about EVIL fungus..I am all for natural cures and many of them work...but these nail fungi are tough..they are deep, deep in the nail bed and take repetitive treatment..for weeks and weeks..the entire nail will have to grow off before you will note that it is clear. Fungi-Cure, available at the drug store without a prescription generally works well--but you have to use it faithfully as directed...it is clear and you can't see it after you apply it. Make sure your shoes have time to dry out good after you wear them and you wear clean, dry socks..fungi thrive in moisture. Take your shoes and socks off when you get home and let your feet get good and dry...before summer you should have a nice new nail

I think there is some proof to what he is saying but he plays a cat and mouse game to it. too many half trues and lies but my opinion.

    • ANSWER:
My friend got a copy for Christmas, and she was pretty angry about it, too. Her mom bought a copy for all eight kids in her family, and she bought them at full price, and it was something she really couldn't afford to do.

Paging through the book reminded me of all the cure-all fads I have witnessed in my life. In the late 70s, it was the aloe vera craze. Now, aloe is good for your skin, but there were tons of people who were convinced that drinking the juice or taking aloe pills would cure everything from cancer to ingrown toenails. In the early 90s, there was a mushroom (really a home-grown fungus) tea craze that offered cures for everything under the sun. Later on, it was vinegar. Now we have Tahitian Noni juice. It all just goes in cycles, with one fad following the next. And fads were all I was able to see in his book. Lots of fads, and no proof of anything.

Undoubtedly, a good diet, plenty of rest and exercise, and good hydration contribute to good health. But you don't need some sillyhead (who, if you remember, first became a well-known personality not because he knew anything about health, but because he was able to memorize people's names at parties) to tell you that.

From what I saw of the book, I think its most effective use is probably the use my friend has for it. She presses flowers, and it is included in her stack of pressing books.

Thank goodness you only paid for it.
